Home Renovation in Toronto

We manage home renovations across Toronto — Victorian and Edwardian semis, postwar bungalows in Etobicoke and Scarborough, and everything between — with one point of contact and vetted, licensed trades.

Renovating in Toronto

Much of Toronto's housing stock is 60 to 120 years old, so demolition day often turns up knob-and-tube wiring, galvanized plumbing, or plaster-and-lath walls. Our trades work in older Toronto homes every week and quote with those realities in mind — which is also why basement underpinning, main-floor reconfigurations, and legal secondary suites are among the most common projects we run in the city.

Common questions from Toronto homeowners

Do I need a building permit for a renovation in Toronto?
Like-for-like finish updates — new kitchen cabinets, tile, flooring — generally don't need one. Removing or altering structural walls, underpinning a basement, adding a secondary suite, or changing plumbing and HVAC layouts does require a City of Toronto building permit. We flag what your project needs during scoping and coordinate the paperwork with our trades.
Can you convert my Toronto basement into a legal rental suite?
Yes. Secondary suites need to meet Ontario Building Code requirements for ceiling height, egress, fire separation, and ventilation, and many older Toronto basements need underpinning or benching to get there. We assess feasibility first so you know the real scope before committing.
